Girl

This was a commissioned project done for my sister. It was also the first project done for my family. I was able to finish it within 3 or 4 months.

My main references was from Klimt and Picasso and I wanted to understand how it would feel to mash “them” design together.

Here is a modern result of it:

I plan to make a series of this “style”.

[May 27th 2011 Revision]
I have manage to grab 2 awards with this masterpiece:

Art Department Award for 2D Design
Santa Ana Foundation Purchase Award

My sister was okay to let this go to raise my reputation. Thanks to my sister very much.

The Bird’s Eye View

Bird’s Eye View

Why is “The Bird’s Eye View” called this “The Bird’s Eye View”? It is called that because we are taking on the perspective of a Bird and it is usually shot from the sky.

The following known feeling as I remember are given:

1. Make the Audience feel like god, because they have the highest ground. Things that are seen from this distance may look like ant, and it seems like you can easily crush them.

The Rule of Thirds

If you do not know what the Rule of Third is, then I suggest reading more about it over at Wikipedia.

Of course, Wikipedia may not be enough, and I may need to cover the issue.

As you can see from above, there are 2 lines that cross each other (2 verticals, and 2 horizontals).

The 2 lines intersect to create 4 point of interest.

These 4 points are where the “viewers” choose to find interesting.

Using the Rule of Third may create strong composition in design. Try it yourself.

Superman’s True Identity

Clark Kent’s secret identity is Superman.
Everyone should at least know that.

However, I believe it is better said in reverse:
Superman’s secret identity is Clark Kent.

Superman becomes who he really is when he is himself, Superman.

When he “becomes” Clark Kent, Superman humbly conserves himself, and brings himself to a level that is less than a super human. Not only that, he is also “disguising” himself by becoming something that he is not, which is a human.

Why does he do this? Because his character development permits him to do so. He was raised as a Human (even though he is not), and thus given the traits of a good and lawful character.

It’s easy for him to be super all his life… but to be normal… it was much harder for him than it was for anyone else. I believe that was one of his biggest challenge and obstacles.

Superman is truly super when he becomes normal like us.

[Update of October 18, 2011] It seems like I written this article @ dotSpiral: Why Superman is Super. Looks like my ideals has stuck with me for a year :]

Remodel once more

Okay. So turning Anraiki.com into a Web-comic didn’t turn out so well.

The reason? I can’t properly update it.

Thus, I am going to just turn it into a reference book for myself.

Stick around and you will see more content coming in.
